Windows Vista for Home Computers is Ready? I Doubt It

Windows VistaWindows Vista for home computers is making the headlines as it gets ready for its big debut on Tuesday. Bill Gates promises that it’s going to WOW us.

Well I gotta admit it does have a snazzy logo. But knowing from personal experience how buggy Microsoft software can be I’ve already set my calendar to remind me two years from now to take another look at it. In the mean time I will sympathize with all the poor suckers who will shell out their hard earned dollars to be beta testers for Bill and company.

What others are saying:

“I don’t think it will change fundamentally what people do with computers or what they are capable of doing,” said Rob Helm, research director at Directions on Microsoft. There is nothing Vista is going to blow the doors off of”.

Of course there will always be those who have to have the newest thing out there. But for me I will stick with good ole XP for now. She may need another coat of paint but at least she gets the work done. Via TECHBloke.

    1. I gotta agree with you there. If I can avoid a repeat of the whole Service Pack II mess, I’ll be a happy camper. At least two years makes perfect sense.

    2. Yes, I hear they are already preparing service pack 111 for vista. Thanks for dropping by Kimber.

    3. I totally agree with you. I am still running ME. It does everything that I need. Except some of the new programs like “TurboTax won’t run on it. Microsoft can do everyone a favor by writing a whole new operating system, not just fiddling with old stuff to make it look prettier and new.

    4. Hi, found you from “East of Oregon” and I will be back often - great site here!!!

    5. Thanks for dropping by Barbara and Richard. And speaking of software, I also heard that most of our installed programs will have to be updated to work on Vista. So considering the high cost of just the operating system plus all my other software, plus hardware upgrades and… Crikey, there goes the piggy bank.
