There are several factors that are only getting worse for newspapers which are trying to stay in business.
More people are using the web.
The cost of printing a daily paper is increaing quickly.
The economny is getting worse.
The reader which does not utilize electronic forms is getting older, and will not be around much longer.
All of this spells the end for an industry unless they can think of a way to continue to be around in a new form.

Every once in awhile someone will write a post claiming blogs are dying. Posts like that are written for their shock value to gain readers — it’s just another form of link bait.
Blogs are evolving that’s for sure, but they will never die because it’s the most personally empowering technology since the invention of the Gutenberg printing press.
