Usage-Based Internet Billing Hits Canada: WTF!

Usage-Based Internet Billing Hits Canada: WTF!

According to TechCrunch, Canada’s Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has “passed sweeping new regulations” forcing Internet Service Providers switch over to metered billing. Meaning, ISPs can now charge by the gigabyte for Internet access on top of a flat service fee.

The “winners” here are the ISPs (and even then, only the big ISPs who have established, old methods of content delivery to protect) who now stand to make a cool mint as a result of the new fees … You’re free to browse the Internet to the tune of 25GB per month, but the second you break through that barrier you’ll have to pay through the nose. Not fun. Usage-Based Billing Hits Canada: Say Goodbye To Internet Innovation

UN-FREAKIN BELIEVABLE!

Canadian ISP’s pulled a coup d’état today that will make Wall Street proud.

Tell me the CRTC isn’t in the pocket of the ISP monopolies and I will sell you beach-front property in the cold Canadian tundra. Go ahead and tell me how hard they’re hurting because I really want to know.

I dare you Mr. Shaw and Rogers to show us all of your houses and cars that you own, then tell us how destitute you really are (notice the tongue in my cheek). I double dare you … who says mafia families aren’t alive and well in planet Canada?

So what happens to all the people left behind with limited income (like the elderly or disabled for example) who’s only outlet to the world is an internet connection? I can only guess the answer is “screw them” because they don’t really matter .. do they.

You’re already taxed on your tax dollars several times over, so the government stands to make another windfall. You can forget them coming to your rescue. Hell, they’re already partners in the crime.

And Obama wants to make a kill switch for the internet? WTF!

They can just flip the bird and put us all back into the dark ages, or enslave us with the pocketbook.

Too much free speech they say .. can’t be having that. Nope. That’s too much of a good thing.

It’s no different than over-pricing education and books beyond the reach of the average person, which is just one step removed from Nazis book burnings and indoctrination camps.

Andrew Carnegie would roll over in his grave if he only knew.

Or God forbid Netflix might offer a better alternative to over-inflated cable TV prices. They’re squeezing out the competition and making money off the deal cause that’s what monopolies do.

The ISP’s and politicians got together in the board room, smoking their stogies and stroking each other’s back. What a scam. That’s for sure.

It’s all about profits and control. Their plan is to limit your access to information and get richer while doing it.

Well done. Congratulate yourselves for that one Canada.

Is this still a democracy? Control freaks! I’m not just angry. I’m furious.

Let’s start a petition below. I’ll get the ball rolling — the BASTARDS. Just saying.
