Turn off the Blogger Navbar

They were listening after all

In case you haven’t heard, you can now turn off the Blogger Navbar. Here is ’s official response courtesy of the Bloke’s friends over at Blogger Forum:

“Hi there,

Thanks for writing in about our brand-new navbar feature. We’re pretty excited to have successfully upgraded everyone to ad-free hosting while simultaneously adding useful new features such as search, BlogThis!, and NextBlog but we’re always looking for more ways to improve our service and keep our users happy.

You can turn the Navbar on or off (as well as alter the color) at your leisure if you use ’s FTP option together with your own hosting provider. Users of ’s free hosting service do not have the option of turning the navbar off but they may change the color any time. This option is located in the “Template” section of your account.

Thanks for using !

Sincerely,
Support”

The problem is after many, many hours of work Blog Bloke has already modified his site design for the Navbar, so I will probably keep it. Thanks for nothing folks. Anyhoo, I have to admit that it has increased my traffic.

  1. I like the NavBar. It’s unbelievable how many bloggers are addicted to hitting the Next Blog button. I’ve gotten a lot of readers that way. A few that even linked back to my blog.

  2. Thanks for dropping by Megan. I have to admit that I’ve grown accustomed to it myself. My main concern however is it is one more script to slow down the loading of my web page.

That was a real problem when they first implemented it, but it is no longer as big an issue as it once was.

  3. Post Script: They still need more color options.
