Trackback is Making a Comeback

A long time ago I once used Haloscan for both comments and trackbacks on my blog. When I converted over to New I decided to not implement Trackback and just stick with ’s commenting system and its useful feature.

Although I believe that Trackback is on it’s way out and is the way to go, I’ve reconsidered and I have now installed Haloscan’s Trackback feature again, but without commenting.

My reasoning for this is that a lot of bloggers still use Trackback (i.e. those low-tech users ;-) and I’m missing out on some valuable inbound links.

I’m still using ’s commenting because it gets picked up very well in the SERPS (search engine results). I’m also using ’s Backlinks feature as well as ’s similar functionality giving me what I think is the best of all worlds.

The problem with Haloscan’s free commenting service is there is a time limit on how long they will remain there, and I’m looking for a more permanent solution. That might have changed since the last time that I checked, but until I’m proven otherwise I will stick with ’s commenting function.

However, I have to admit that I really like the ability Haloscan has for editing comments and banning IP addresses, so the jury is still out on that one. For consistency’s sake I’m keeping my fingers crossed that will eventually upgrade it’s commenting feature and catch up.

But isn’t the only one who has to play catch up. I see implementing Trackback as only being temporary. will have to catch up and implement as well, and when it does Trackback will indeed be dead in the water.
