Thinking of Scoble
I’m still in shock and awe with the kahunas that Robert Scoble has shown leaving Microsoft. Let’s face it, you would think that he had a secure future with Bill Gates and company.
Leaving for a start-up that is hedging its bets on a new fad (podcasting) and surviving off the good graces of investment capital is a risky venture any way you look at it.
“He’s his own brand, and we’ll invest in him,” says his new CEO.
Is Scoble really a “brand” name that can take his new found company to greater heights? I wonder.
For his sake I hope he has the entrepreneurial smarts to pull it off and hasn’t burned his bridges. A word of advice Rob… think leave of absence.
Or as one blogger put it:
By leaving and joining a startup, I bet, when Microsoft takes out Podtech in a while he will get a couple of million payoff and a much higher position in Microsoft.
If I was a betting man those would seem pretty good odds to me. So much for kahunas.
