The Bloke’s Blogger Wish List
After Blogger rolled out Comment Moderation, it got me to thinking about what other features I would like to see. So with the Christmas season just around the corner I thought I would make my Blogger wish list:
1. The ability to Edit and Search Comments
Have you ever tried to look for an old comment that had a link or reference you needed? I know that I have, and unfortunately comments don’t show up in blog search. Surely implementing a feature like this can’t be all that difficult for a company that made its name in the search engine business.
And what about comment editing? Have you ever received a comment from somebody who made an otherwise useful comment, but used offensive language that didn’t sit right with your sensibilities? You want to keep the comment and just edit out the obnoxious words, but as it now stands you can only delete the entire comment or leave it as is.
2. PHP Support for BlogSpot
Have you ever wanted to add a script to your blog that the search engines can read? As it now stands you can only use javascript which doesn’t help much with your pagerank.
3. Support for Post Categories
Are you as fed up with having to add technorati categories to your posts as I am? Even relative newcomer to the blogging game MSN Spaces supports this feature, so let’s get with the program Blogger.
4. Trackback
Again, trackback is pretty much a standard feature in blog software and still lacking in Blogger.
5. Domain Mapping
The ability to use our own domain name (i.e. http://www.ourownname.com) instead “blogspot” on our post pages. That way we can own our posts instead of blogspot. I would be willing to pay for this feature (but free is better :).
