Rest in peace Bandit

Last evening around midnight our family was reminded of the fragility of life and the permanence of death. Our little pet ferret Bandit passed away in the loving arms of our daughter as we rushed him to the local animal hospital. But it was too late.

As is always the way I don’t think we really realized how much we loved him until he was gone. He had been ill off and on for some time, probably with adrenal disease, but we expected him to bounce back like he always had. But this time his poor little body was too weak to fight.

BanditOn the way to the emergency clinic it was heart wrenching to see my little girl cry out to God to save him, and her tears when Bandit was pronounced dead. Memories of when my Mom passed away still haunt me and the gut wrenching sting of death is almost as fresh as it was back then.

Nothing lasts forever. Appreciate what you have while you still can.

Sweet dreams little guy.

  1. I am truly sorry to hear about the passing Bandit. I remember you saying that he was not well, a while ago. The passing of a friend whether it be a four legged or two legged…family or friend is never easy.

Please relay my condolences to your daughter..he is at peace now.

@Diane, he was a special little guy. Bandit was the runt of the litter but big on personality. He was gentlest ferret that I’ve ever seen. Full of fun and energy and only 5 years old. Far too young to pass away.
