Long Live RSS! Please Re-Subscribe to BB
As you may have heard Google is shutting down support for Feedburner. After taking it over a few years ago they didn’t do much with it and the writing is now on the wall as we can see by this curt message from Google with respect to its API.
This was also demonstrated to me personally when I got this notice from Feedburner for my email subscription service. Which is why I have now switched my email subscription service over to MailChimp.

Google announced even more of its neglect by shutting down support for Adsense for feeds amongst others.
This is very sad news indeed because there are virtually no free alternatives for RSS to newsfeed service. After Feedburner’s demise there will be no easy way to track newsfeed subscribers that we have.
But should we be declaring RSS is dead? I don’t think so. Google isn’t supporting Feedburner because it decided to go all into the social media bandwagon. So Google wants you to buy into it’s Google+ umbrella in an attempt to stave off Facebook’s aggressive online presence. After this appalling episode I will NEVER rely on any Google service again.
But RSS will continue to be supported by virtually all blogs/websites and I see no reason for abandoning a tried-and true delivery system just because of a social media fad. Pretty much all of the major media outlets will continue using RSS so there is no reason for us to stop using it either
It’s only a matter of time before Feedburner is shut down entirely so if you want to continue getting Blog Bloke updates I recommend that you re-subscribe with my Wordpress feed http://www.blogbloke.com/feed now.
Please right-click, copy and paste the link into your favorite newsfeed reader instead of normal clicking because otherwise it will just forward to Feedburner as it is still active (for now).
Personally I am deeply saddened by all this nonsense because I am a big fan of RSS and have been involved in it’s development way back when I hand-coded RSS from scratch before blogs offered it as a ‘feature’.
It is all very sad indeed and I hope you will continue reading Blog Bloke. It is my pleasure to serve.
Thanks for following Blog Bloke and cheers!
