Hazing of the Bloke

(Blogcritics Postscript)

What did they say about the best of laid plans?

Following up on my last Blogcritics post below I thought it would be fun to give you an update and my thoughts on the matter.

Despite my expressed protests, the owners of Blogcritics (or should I say BlogHypocrites.org) arbitrarily opened the comments section of my final post.

And so my plan for a dignified withdrawal was ambushed with the push of a button. The cover up had begun and the hazing of the Bloke was set in motion.

Crawling out from under their IP addresses the perverse “neurotics” and “crackpots” of the blogosphere couldn’t resist taking their parting shots, ignorant of the fact they were only proving my point.

The excrement was flying from all directions, flame throwers, mail bombs and everything else in their formidable arsenal. Just like the worst firefight in Blackhawk Down - only stinkier.

The Bloke was ducking pot shots and returning fire as fast as he could, but no matter how quickly he could hit the enter key five more declarations of war were waiting for him.

What was a Bloke to do? After the dust had settled it was not unlike after a high school brawl, and the euphoria that envelopes from being bloodied a bit but none the worse for wear.

First they accused the Bloke of being “spineless”. The trap was set and the sucker fell for it. So the Bloke went on the offensive and proved their lie, but they just changed the rules and made it up along the way. Why couldn’t they tell the truth? Fess up and let bygones be bygones.

But no, the coverup was in full swing and there was no turning back. So what do you do when you’re caught in the act? The spinmeisters commence damage control, the perpetrators play innocent and accuse the Bloke of being confrontational.

So being the nice guy that he is the Bloke took it down a notch and tried to reason with them. Another mistake. Soon the insults and condemnations were catapulting in his direction. And so on, and so forth.

They couldn’t make up their mind. Whatever works. Anything to obfuscate the truth. The Bloke should have known better. You cannot reason with unreasonable people.

Call it an epiphany if you will. The Bloke was catching on. This was not about right or wrong. It was entertainment. Entertainment blogcritics style… at his expense.

Teach the Bloke a lesson or two. Confuse the issue, slap him around a bit and send him home to lick his wounds. That is how the game is played if you dare criticize the powers that be. Rather ironic for a place that calls itself BlogCRITICS. Isn’t it?

Somewhere down that slippery slope I may feel inclined to publish all of the details in all its glory. In the mean time, if you would like a taste of some of the crap that floatilas over there please feel free to check this out.

It is always the same trolls with the loudest mouths that cause all the fuss. For the time being trolls rule, and they ruin it for everybody else. Perhaps some day the owners (Eric Olsen and Phillip Winn) will realize they are a detriment and clean up the act. But it seems unlikely given how much they enjoy playing the game of flung-poo themselves.

Here’s an idea. For comedic relief I may from time to time provide links to especially virulent posts for your reading pleasure. It should prove interesting poking fun at their shenanigans from the outside looking in.

Thank you all for your messages of support. Especially my fellow bloggers Shark, CW Fisher, Al Barger, Chris Arabia and Anita Campbell.

And so my friends another chapter in my life ends as another is about to begin. Chalk it up to experience Bloke. See you in cyber-space at a blogspot near you.
