Blogger Admits to Problems with Image Uploading

This is a problem that most of us can relate to. A lot of you have been asking me about difficulty you have been having trying to upload images with .

This latest post from indicates this has been a widespread problem that has been prevalent with many bloggers, (myself included) so you are in good company.

They claim to be making headway and have added a new feature to Beta, showing thumbnails (see below) of your photos after you upload them:

We hope that this thumbnail feature will help us diagnose the remaining issues, in particular those where no error message pops up. If you still have image upload problems on the beta please report them to us so we can get them solved. Don’t forget to mention in your description whether or not you see the thumbnails!

They also remind us to clear our browser cache to get all the latest fixes. This is a good idea to get in a habit of doing whenever you make changes to your site.

In Firefox you do that under the “Tools” menu and clicking “Clear Private Data”. In Internet Explorer 6 it is a little more complicated (because it’s a Microsoft product). You will find it under “Tools”, “Internet Options”, and underneath the “General” tab you will see the heading “Temporary Internet Files”. Click on “Delete Files” and a pop-up will appear. You will see a small box. Click it to put a checkmark in the box to “Delete all offline content”. Then click “Ok”. In Opera you will find it under “Tools”, “Private Data”.

After cleaning your cache it is also a good idea to do a forced reload of your browser window. You do that by pressing the ‘control’ and ‘F5′ keys (ctrl-F5) together at the same time.

Here is a list of shortcut keys that are common to most browser versions. You should also subscribe to the Blogger Buzz newsfeed so that you can keep on top of all the latest news from .

  1. So it is THEM!!
Fortunately, there’s more than one way to skin a cat. I’ve been using Flickr but I’m sure there are easier methods.
Blogger could cause a mini-stroke just waiting for them to get it together. TAKE A BREAK. ENJOY some down-time. Yea, we will miss you but we need you to take care of you FIRST! Cheers, Macha

  2. Yeah, they’re driving me crazy too. They’re screwing up my templates and I haven’t even switched over to beta yet.

Thanks for your concern. I can’t seem to sleep more than a few hours so I thought I would blog until… I’m…. sleepy….
