You Me Blogger and Dupree OpenID

Although I have found this experience frustrating to say the least, my advice is to set up on your blog right away because as it now stands there is no other way to offer your readers a way of putting in their blog address when they leave a comment.

I still prefer the old method, but it is now gone and the powers that be aren’t listening to me. Here is the that I used. I took it right out of the OpenID Help file:

Put it in your template right after your section. Enjoy (notice the tongue in my cheek).

  1. BB — That’s about all I could do for my readers. But it kept reverting back to the old way from time to time, so I had to keep checking it. It’s still in draft, right?

  2. Yeah, which is just another way of saying it’s still in BETA.

Meaning: Expect to have a lot of problems.

  3. That is interesting. I am very new to OpenID and I only signed-up out of curiosity at myopenid.com, after Vincent Flanders made major changes in his commenting system !

    This is a test !

  4. This totally SUCKS! Too many hoops to jump through just to leave a comment with a URL. Merry Christmas Blogger — HUMBUG!

  5. Well, I’m on my way to WordPress. I’m working in a test environment right now, with an alternate domain name. Working out a theme at the moment. Unfortunately, the official WP theme site is down. God hates me. Once I settle on my theme and everything works right, I’m migrating over.

    Leaving Google in the dust,
    Kathy

  6. I’m right behind you. It’s just a matter of time until I can get my theme ready. Blogger has become too proprietory and a nuisance for my liking. I’m fed up with having its version of blogging shoved down my throat. I want an open and flexible system that will allow me to decide what I want and don’t want. Wordpress will give me the flexibility that I’m looking for.

  7. Maybe, we should move to TypePad?

A better post written in Blogger is less relevant than a copied post in TypePad per Google’s Blog Search Engine.

Check out the search on “Llandudno Lighthouse” which was used to check my search position in todays Google’s Blog Search Engine.

With so many Google Blogger discriminations, I wonder why I am writing posts?

Which WordPress host did you decide to use?

  8. There was a time when Google was biased in favour of Blogger (or so it seemed). But after getting so much flak it seems to have gone in the opposite direction.

I’m going to use the free version that I posted about earlier, and when it’s ready to go live I’m looking seriously at using DreamHost.

  9. Thank you, Bloke!

Time to put on my Life Preserver and jump off the Blogger Boat!

Looks Like the Google Blogging Blunders are giving WordPress a helping hand!

  10. I probably could write a Bible about Google starting with “Thou Shalt have no other gods before your Great Google God.”

But, I need help writing the esoteric mystery of how Google follows comment conversations but doesn’t have the time to distinguish original content from copied content!

  11. I’m afraid you will have to dip into the putrefying bowels of Google’s algorithms to figure that one out. Good luck!

  12. What are the odds, Bloke?

Astrological Algorithms were used to create the words of the original Bible!

BTW, your Comment eMail Notification is not working again! Pray to Google to pour out a eMail Notification Algorithm Blessing!

  13. Didn’t know you were a biblical scholar too :)

  14. I’m totally confused about this OpenID thing and sort of pissed too. I spent a bunch of time and effort and now you’re telling me that Google has done something that makes it more worthwhile to go to another host? That royally sucks.

  15. Yeah, we’re all pissed over this. After spending all that effort converting over to the new Blogger and then they pull some BS like this. Never again because as soon as I get my Wordpress theme ready I’m outta here for good.
