No Zune Here!

Chris Pirillo is starting up a club for people who aren’t buying Zunes:

d00d! I can’t wait! I’m not going to buy a Zune tomorrow! I’m going to bed early tonight so that I can get up late tomorrow (and avoid going to stores altogether, so that I can be sure that I won’t buy a Zune). Are you not buying a Zune? We can start up a club of people who aren’t buying Zunes, because if you’re not buying a Zune - you’re not alone. I can’t wait to not buy my Zune. It’s going to be awesome. Or, not awesome?

Ok d00d. I’m in, er… out.

Installing Zune

Engadget pretty much agrees:

Icing on the cake: restart after uninstall. No, sorry, the icing on the cake is the crash our computer took after we hit this, causing our RAID 5 array to crap out and spend a few hours rebuilding.

Bloke’s Quote: Caveat Emptor. Never, ever, never purchase anything from Microsoft with a version of “.0″. You can quote me on that.

  1. i won a Zune, just waiting for it to arrive.

but in my case since i am already running one machine with vista ultimate and i have a xbox360.. it kinda suits me.

    :P

  2. Well, since you won it avatar I won’t hold it against you ;-) Let me know how the install goes.

  3. Zune? Wow! Too bad Apple didn’t think of it first.

    Oh wait.

  4. DOH!

    Zune, Zune, Zune…

  5. i wouled have bought it anyway, and the install not should be a problem to me at least.

i have seen the install and i already kow the why those install failed..

    anyway.. that is that.

  6. Don’t mind me Avatar. I’m just pulling your leg. I hope it works out for you.

But what really blows me away is Microsoft products can have inconsistent installs on their own operating system.

So what does that say about their product control?

  7. first thing,is that i have only collected information about 30 bad install, wich were because:

1.-bad install cd´s (most becuase they were send too soon)
2.-people triying to install it in badly pirated copies of xp
3.-people triying to install it in vista beta
4.-people triying to install it in pirated vista copies.
5.-people with a certain configuration of a ad-ware,anti viruas, firewall software active during install.

so, i think that the real rate of succes to install the cd if you are not in the above situations is of 99%

And don´t try to tell me this didn´t happened in mac with the latest itunes that had to be patched two times…so, there you go.

anyway, zune already got the announcemnents i were waiting for today among a huge lot of other news about it:

-Commitment to 3 generations of zune already signed in paper, wich means they are already working on the second generation of the device.
-the zphone confirmed as real by steve “i love this company yeeaargh” Ballmer
-a new firmware update already announced for december that include the ability to share video along 2 not revealed surprises

so, don´t expect the zune to go away like if it were a experimental device like msn tv was.
