News Flash: Blogosphere is 10 this Month

Once again the news junkies and pseudo intellectuals are using this anniversary to speculate on the relationship between blogging and journalism.

“Contrary to the predictions of both champions and skeptics, blogging has neither displaced nor debased the practice of journalism. If anything, it has made journalism more accurate, democratic and widely read.” Source.

That’s exactly right, but it’s nothing to brag about either. Since the demise of Dan Rather it is us bloggers who have been keeping them honest.I too have weighed in over the years and predicted the blurring of the lines between mainstream media and the blogosphere. But definitively, here is my official opinion on the matter:

“Blogs enable us to comment on the news. Sometimes we are the news, and sometimes we even scoop the news, but by and large we are not reporters of the news… and that is all the difference”… Blog Bloke

You can quote me. Happy Birthday ‘B’!
