New Blogger: The Perfect Blogging Platform?

Is the ‘New’ Blogger the new cool kid on the block? I’m willing to stick my neck out right now and say yes.

Why? Because Blogger has slowly (and surely) played catch-up with its competitors to become a major player by offering features that were previously only available in other well-know blog platforms such as Wordpress and Typepad.

But more importantly, by now offering Custom Domains for FREE Blogger has jumped ahead of its competitors like Typepad that only offer it as a paid-for feature. Not even Wordpress.com can come close to this.

Add into the mix Blogger’s highly configurable (and hackable) code for template customization, and you have a winner in my books.

Google is finally using its financial edge to leap ahead of its competitors and that’s good news, albeit a long time coming.

Now if they will only improve their lackluster support and include server-side PHP. I would also recommend an option for users to opt out of the ungainly navbar (or at least offer more color options) and it just might become the perfect free blogging platform.
