Sumo Computer President, Melody Bornheimer announced today that a new Sumo Computer configured Kuro Box/HG is now available with LAMP. LAMP is the acronym for Linux, Apache, MySQL and Perl/Python/PHP.

LAMP is the platform of choice for the development and deployment of high performance web applications. All solid Open Source applications in combination with one another provide for a safe and reliable Open Source application development environment for the World Wide Web.

In addition to the LAMP server, Sumo Computer is also announcing a pricing change. The new price for all of the Sumo Computer configured Kuro Box/HG’s is now only $399!

The Kuro Box/HG is a PowerPC based computer server with a 266 MHz PPC 603e processor, 128 MB of memory, 2 - USB 2.0 interfaces and a Gigabit Ethernet interface. Sumo Computer has included a Maxtor Diamond 10 250 Gb disk drive for high capacity MySQL database support.

Sumo Computer has chosen the Gentoo Linux distribution due to its ease of administration and over 10,000 Open Source ported applications. Gentoo has a very active user and developer community.
