Just Plain English No Clichés (or sex) Please
More than 5000 supporters in over 70 countries participated in a campaign to decide the most irritating phrases for the English language. At the end of the day the number one voted cliche was - you guessed it… “At the end of the day”. Second place was shared by “At this moment in time” and the constant use of “like” as if it were a form of punctuation. “With all due respect” came fourth. The complete list can be found over at the Plain English Campaign headquarters.
The bottom line is these are just ballpark figures so please bear with me as I attempt to clean up my act.
