Introducing the Blokester Network

April 3rd, 2007 by Blog Bloke | 9 Comments

Recently Kirsten asked:

“…are you going to create a Blog Bloke Network blogroll, so we have one easy place to access everyone in your network? That’s a feature I’d like to see.”

Ask and ye shall receive. That’s a great idea Kirsten!

Previously I had created a label called “networking“, but it also included other posts I’ve written that weren’t specific to the Bloke Bloke Network. I had no idea the network would grow as fast as it did, so creating a separate category for the network makes sense.

So I’ve created a separate label called the ”Blokester Network” (you will find it on the sidebar listed under “Sections” (categories) which has all of my posts listing members of the network.

Side Note: Making an ordinary blogroll per se might not be practical because of the shere size of it. I suppose I could have created a separate page with the list, but it is already quite large and I suspect it will be huge fairly soon. But I think the label does a pretty good job for the purpose don’t you think.

What is the ‘Blolester Network’?

I have been a staunch critic of blog networks ever since they started, mainly because they are a gang of self-serving wanna-be a-listers who are trying to create an elitist niche for themselves to exploit. An exclusive old boys country club so-to-speak … and who do you think it is they intend to exploit? That’s right, it’s YOU the other 99% who are left out in the cold.

I don’t see how these blog networks add any value to the community as a whole when they intentionally shut out most of the blogosphere. You can read more of what I think of them under the category “networking“.

So I decided to create a network that would include you, the majority of unsung bloggers who have been ignored far too long and used primarily as fodder for the a-listers.

Sounds Great! So How Do I Become a Member of the ‘Blokester Network’?

You don’t have to sign up for anything, give me your private email address or dance on your head. All that you need to do to become a member is link to the Bloke. Please also consider adding yourself to my “Friend Connect” widget too.

I don’t care if you are just starting out blogging, what your pagerank is, how pretty your blog looks, or whatever. Just be passionate about blogging and link to me.

And that’s it — you’re in! (The correct link to me by the way is: http://www.blogbloke.com/)

You won’t find any cliques here, just bloggers who share a passion for blogging.

Hay! I was on Costa Rica news here last night! They got a shot of me walking my Max on the beach. They were actually filming beach safety precautions and I happened to be there. A few more seconds of fame! A friend called and told me cause I never watch the news in Spanish.
