Introducing the Blokester Network

By 14 Comments   Share

wee BLOGBlokeRecently Kirsten asked:

“…are you going to create a Blog Bloke Network blogroll, so we have one easy place to access everyone in your network? That’s a feature I’d like to see.”

Ask and ye shall receive. That’s a great idea Kirsten!

Previously I had created a label called “networking“, but it also included other posts I’ve written that weren’t specific to the BLOGBloke Network. I had no idea the network would grow as fast as it did, so creating a separate category for the blog network makes sense.

So I created a category called the “Blokester Network” (you will find it on the sidebar listed under “Topics” (categories) or in the above top menu. It has all of my posts on members of the network.

Side Note: Making an ordinary blogroll per se might not have been practical because of the shere size of it. I suppose I could have created a separate page with the list, but it is already quite large and I suspect it will be huge fairly soon. But I think the category does a pretty good job for the purpose don’t you think.

What is the ‘Blokester Network’?

I have been a staunch critic of blog networks ever since they started, mainly because they are a gang of self-serving internet marketers / wannabe a-listers trying to create an elitist niche for themselves.

An exclusive old boys club so-to-speak … and who do you think it is they intend to exploit? That’s right, it’s YOU the other 99% who are left out in the cold.

I don’t see how these blog networks add any value to the blogging community when they intentionally shut out most of the blogosphere.

So I decided to create a blog network for the the rest of us, the majority of unsung bloggers who have been ignored far too long and used as digital fodder for the a-listers.

Sounds Great! So How Do I Become a Member of the ‘Blokester Network’?

You don’t have to sign up for anything, give me your private email address or dance on your head. All that you need to do to become a member is link to the Bloke.

Please also consider grabbing one of my Blokester buttons on the right and putting it on your blog sidebar. (I won’t complain of you subscribe to my newsfeed and follow me on Twitter, Facebook, or circle me on Google Plus either).

Check out my other blogs too. TECHBloke and NEWSBloke.

I don’t care if you are just starting out blogging, what your pagerank is, how pretty your blog looks (or whatever). Just be passionate about blogging and link to me.

And that’s it — you’re in!

You won’t find any cliques here, just bloggers who share a passion for blogging.

*P.s.: I should also mention this network isn’t just for the Blokes. We don’t discriminate around here and affectionately refer to our gorgeous femme fatales as Blokettes.

So blog on!

  3. I still get a warm, fuzzy feeling when I remember you featuring my blog.
Hay! I was on Costa Rica news here last night! They got a shot of me walking my Max on the beach. They were actually filming beach safety precautions and I happened to be there. A few more seconds of fame! A friend called and told me cause I never watch the news in Spanish.

I didn’t even KNOW what a blog was last year! I’ve come a long way baby, huh? I still don’t fiddle with my blog for fear I will erase it. You’re my blog hero. Enough of the blog-love-fest… you’re the best. Teri

  11. Great tips Bloke. I never know what to read or trust about blogging anymore.. You seem to be on the level. Not trying to get rich or anything.. Just a little notoriety…You dig?

I have a post planned for this “blogging tips” stuff and some of my criticisms.. LOL.. But you seem pretty kewl.

  12. I’ve been blogging for years and, though I get plenty of comments from my friends on my Facebook feed, it seems no one else is that interested. A quick check of my stats shows that a link to a 1958 Walt Disney Christmas record I posted a few years ago is by far the most popular item there - scandelous when you consider how much other great material I put time and effort into.

Still, I do the blog for me, and not really for anyone else - though I would hope that other people would be a little bit interested at least!

Cheers for the tips on your site. Excellent stuff, and some stuff I’ve not thought of before!

    Well Done!
