I Want to be a Jerkface Too

Say No to A-ListsRobert Scoble and I will finally get a chance to meet at BlogWorld & New Media ExpoBlog Expo next year in Las Vegas where I will be one of the guest speakers. That is something I’m looking very much forward to, health permitting of course.

Yesterday he wrote some tips on better blogging which hopefully will translate into more traffic coming to your blog (he must be reading the Bloke). Interestingly though, in number #6 he states:

The tool I use to blog, Wordpress.com, shows me when I sign in who has linked to me. I click on those links, and I get to read what other bloggers have said about me. I’m very likely to subscribe to those blogs, or link back and say “you’re a jerkface too.” Or, at minimum, leave a comment “nice post.” Either way, that’s one more reader you have today than you had yesterday.

Hmm, I’ve linked to Robert on many occasions but I have yet to receive a comment from him. Now granted I’m not one to grovel or mince my words, and I have to admit that there has been occasion when I have found myself on the opposite side of the tracks (especially when it comes to the “A” word). But that shouldn’t stop us from being civil.

So this is my little experiment to see if Rob will actually follow through with his promise and leave me a comment.

He also says that we should be humble so here is your opportunity mate. I will eat my pride and give you my blessing to call the Bloke a “Jerkface”.

But be warned this is a limited time offer only, and will not be repeated again or sold in the stores. Viva Las Vegas!

“`
P.s.: Do you think the title of this post is strong enough (aka #10 “Writing better headlines”)? Or perhaps a better one might have been “Better Blogging by a Jerkface Blogger Bloke”. (Just messin’ with ya Rob and thanks for being a good sport ;-)

    2. “this is a limited time offer and will not be repeated again or sold in the stores.”

Heh, I get the irony Bloke. Without a doubt you are the most clever writer in the blogosphere.

      Love the blog.

    3. So much for Scoble’s promises.

    4. Looks like you’ve been snubbed Bloke, but don’t worry ’cause you’re in good company. It’s actually a good sign because he obviously considers you a competitor and a threat. So don’t sweat the small stuff because he ain’t worth it. You are much better than he will ever be.

    5. It wouldn’t be the first time Pete. You have to expect these things when you go against the grain. A-listers need to lighten up a little and not take themselves so seriously.

I guess it’s time to be stingier with my links. What goes around comes around.

    6. It looks like Scoble isn’t as good a sport as you gave him credit for.

    7. If anything this post proves one thing: That a-listers have no sense of humor. Which also proves what big egos they have.

    8. Thanks for the support guys, but maybe Rob just forgot to check his backlinks? Still waiting.. tick, tock… K sera, sera…

    9. Hey, I was at a wedding!

    10. HURRAH! (but a likely story ;-) It wasn’t the response I was expecting but I guess it makes me b-lister now. Peace and wedded bliss to Chris and Ponzi Pirillo.
