How to Make Money Blogging
Chris (a member of the Bloke’s network) has written a terrific post about realistic goals for making money blogging. He distinguishes making money with your blog into four categories:
1. Direct Income; affiliate programs. 2. Indirect Income; paid writing assignments, speaking engagements, consulting opportunities etc. 3. Active Income; being paid to write a post. 4. Passive Income; Adsense etc. Just a quick word on passive income. It’s a numbers game so bloggers should focus on increasing traffic and positioning ads, and the income should grow accordingly. He also echos what the Bloke has been saying all along about the hucksters out there: Don’t for a minute think that you have to earn your income using the method that some expert is selling for a few hundred dollars. Guess what. That expert is probably earning far more telling people how to earn money then he ever did actually using the system he is selling. Ditto Chris, and lastly I would like to leave you with this final parting word on making money with your blog. PATIENCE and hard work is necessary as well as a virtue. Related posts:

Thanks for the mention, Bloke!
I hope I didn’t come across as hostile towards ad networks and such. It is just not the income source I’ve chosen to pursue.

I don’t think so, but we are all entitled to our opinion are we not.

Yeah, I like all these revenue-gaining avenues.
Especially on firsts of the month paydays like today! Yay!
Anyhoo, blog bloke — has anyone ever told you how weird it is that when you click on your blog post titles in your Feedblitz email feed, it doesn’t take me to your blog nor that post, but sends me to a FeedBlitz logon screen.
Is this how you want it?
I think this could result in you losing readers.
With your blog alone, I always have to remember to click on your man slumped over on a desk typing icon, and not the blog titles.

I have tried all the different methods outlined above. I’d say the best earnings have come from affiliate programs.
If you get a good, popular, and most importantly high paying affiliate program the money does slowly pile up over time.
I’ve earned a few bucks from Adsense, but I’d say that you’d have to have huge traffic before you get an appreciable income from that.
