Flying the Friendly Skies with High Speed Internet
Here is an interesting news item from TECHBloke.
This is terrific news for blogging geeks on the go. I can hear it now… “blogging live from the friendly skies“. Are you listening Scoble?
Alaska Airlines announced that it will be testing a high-speed satellite wireless Internet service on its aircraft next year. The airline will be the first carrier in the US to offer such a service, and if the test is successful it will be implemented onto the entire fleet. The broadband service is designed to work over water and internationally, and customers will access the service from Wi-Fi hotspots within the aircraft cabin.
Alaska Airlines is not the only US carrier to be testing airline broadband services. American Airlines also announced plans to test a similar service, though it will use air-to-ground technology rather than satellites. Source.
