Bill Gates the ‘Nagulator’

It seems that Bill Gates is a little short on cash these days. Probably because he couldn’t meet his Vista deadline. Maybe he forgot about that new cash cow Steve Jobs gave him, or could it be he just needs another lamborghini? Who knows.

Anyhow, beware that commencing tomorrow Microsoft will be pushing a patch called “Windows Genuine Advantage” that will determine if your Windows copy is of course… genuine.

If not, it will permanently tattoo your computer with a flag and nag you into coughing up the doe ray me.

Your reward for paying? You will be able to install Internet Explorer 7 and continue downloading patches to fix Microsoft’s notoriously buggy software.

What a deal. Sounds more like extortionware than nagware to me.

Windows XP: The poor man’s Mac OS X

Now that Mac OS and Windows are interchangeable, maybe we’ll get lucky and Jobs will lower his prices? One can only hope.

Or maybe we can just find a WGA workaround. So get cracking if you know what I mean. ;-)

  1. Yeah, what a deal my a**. He can take my money but keep the IE7

  2. With every patch I download it reminds me that Bill still hasn’t got it right. Phooey!
