Great News!

GreatNews NewsreaderI have Great News for you and it’s something that you will definitely be interested in.

Recently I came across a piece of software that I know you will like. Well, maybe not so recently because I checked it out last year and turned it down for another (big mistake) which only proves that the Bloke isn’t infallible after all. (Careful my feelings are fragile).

Back in the good old days I used FeedDemon as my RSS Newsreader but eventually we had a falling out. So I panned the next major upgrade and was subsequently flamed by its creator. (Ouch, I’m still fuming over that one).

Ever since then I’ve been just using a boring plugin for my browser which suffers from, shall we say… feature envy. Nonetheless, I’ve been reading so many great reviews of this software that it deserved a second look.

I’m talking about GreatNews, a FREE newsreader (aka aggregator). It has most of the bells and whistles you could ever want and at a fraction of the price of FeedDemon.

Instead of listing its features like everybody else does, why not just read it for yourself at their website. But there are a couple of things about GreatNews I would like to share with you that really sets it apart from the crowd:

1. First of all, did I mention it’s for free? Oh yeah, I already said that. But I didn’t mention that it’s blazingly FAST! I literally subscribe to thousands of newsfeeds. Why you may ask? Well, because I have nothing better to do that’s why. Next question…

But seriously, updating FeedDemon was a nightmare and it would literally grind my ‘puter to a halt. In fact it was so bad that I had to disengage automatic updates for all of my feeds (which also kinda defeated the benefit of using a full featured news reader in the first place).

With GreatNews I hardly even notice a burp. It may not be as purty as FeedDemon but so what. GreatNews works great and that is what is important.

2. Secondly, GreatNews doesn’t require an install. Yep, you heard that right. GreatNews just unzips it’s files into a directory of your choosing and away you go. No fuss, no muss. And best of all, because it doesn’t install itself it won’t muck with your registry either. Sweet!

So there’s no risk in giving it a try. If you decide that you don’t like it, just delete all the files and nothing is left behind.

There is of course one caveat (isn’t there always). The author says that he intends to eventually charge for it. But for now it’s completely free for the taking so grab it while you still can.

So what are you waiting for? Download your copy now.
