Get Rid of those Useless Widgets

This is a good example of what I was talking about in my now infamous post 10 Reasons Why I Don’t Like Your Blog (comment #4).
I’ve decided to part ways with the Co.mments widget that I had in my sidebar. Although I wouldn’t call it a “useless widget”, it was hurting the performance of my blog enough to justify removing it.
I still however use Co.mments and consider it an excellent service. If you want to continue reading the conversations that the Bloke is tracking the link is here as well as in my sidebar.
Sometimes you have to be ruthless when it comes to weighing the pros and cons of doodads and widgets. Consider the space in your sidebar as prime real estate, and the loading time of your blog should never be compromised by poor performing scripts.
I might enable it again sometime in the future to see if they have improved its performance, but for the time being it is definitely GO.NE.

I like you blog, I think is very original. I think that Blogger is the best blog platform there because of the flexivility that provide for the ones that dare and know how to do a little more whit it.
My filosofy is “less is more” as you will see if you visit me.

I checked your blog and love the picture of the flower. It is very beautiful.
“Less is more” is a good thing to keep in mind designing your blog. It’s always a trade off and you can’t please all of the people all the time.
I have to agree at least Blogger has the flexibility to be hacked (and they even seem to encourage it), but unfortunately I think they rely too much on us bloggers to make improvements to their lacking in features.

Sorry about that. The co.mments server will occassionally slow down to a crawl. I’m looking into it.
