LAMP has new (free) tutorials that might be of interest to you:

When we looked at the available how-to stuff on LAMP, it all seemed to be by programmers, for programmers. It assumed a level of knowledge that most beginners don’t have. So we created these to help newbies get up to speed on the basics.
