Facebook Smeargate: More Than Ever Now It’s Time To Get A ‘Real’ Blog

Unless you live on an iceberg at the Antarctic you must have heard by now about the Facebook “Smeargate” scandal.
Just to refresh your memory: The social network secretly hired a PR firm to plant negative stories about Google.
Apparently somebody at Facebook had hired Burson-Marsteller (a public-relations firm) to spread anti-Google stories to news outlets urging them to write that Google was invading users’ privacy. Burson even offered to help a blogger to write a Google-bashing post and put it in the Washington Post, Politico, and Huffington Post.

And remember, it was only yesterday that it was reported Facebook had ‘leaked’ millions of profiles. Shall I go on? We’ve heard all this before, haven’t we. (Rhetorical).
Rather than get into a pissing match and curate content that’s already out there, I leave you with this comment:
Isn’t it about time we woke up to the fact that (umm) Facebook is run by someone who is (shall we say) morally challenged, and maybe (just maybe) it’s time that we dump Facebook and get a REAL Blog (like BLOGBloke has been saying all along)?
It should be obvious by now that a “FREE” Facebook account isn’t really free at all … i.e. at the cost of your privacy and moral fibre.
Grab your friends and take them over to your REAL blog. Make it private if you want to. Just do it.
UPDATE: After writing this article this blog suffered a massive DDoS attack. Just a coincidence … right?
