Elitist Bloggers are Doinks - seriously
An interesting discussion has erupted over blog elitists. I have made it clear in earlier posts that I’m sickened by this trend. This is one topic that really riles my rancor so here is my comment that pretty much sums up my view on the schmozzle:
There are many blogs (mine included) that STILL use blogger and through the use of hacks are as sophisticated as any out there. This “elitist” bs that’s going around is dangerous and quite frankly — stupid. It has been floating around a lot lately and the Scobles and Guy Kawasakis et al have been leading the charge.
One of the strengths of the blogosphere is that it has lowered the playing field and allowed everyone to join in the chorus. If you want to be part of the signal and rise above the rest of the noise then just write good content.
But leave the immature elitist crap behind. It’s time to grow up and forget about all the abuse we received at High School. Geeks rule!
Someone else suggested using Technorati’s authority slider to filter out the noise. This was my response:
The problem that I see using Technorati’s authority slider is there are a lot of good blogs out there that will be filtered out because they haven’t developed a ‘high rank’ (yet). As long as they are ‘filtered’ they will not have an opportunity to rise up the food chain like the others have.
It is self defeating and only reinforces the elitist mentality. No doubt the so-called A-Listers were behind that idea. So if you want to just read them subscribe to their feed and skip Technorati.
The reason that I read Technorati is to find other opines and to join the community. Frankly I’m tired of just reading the snobs. The primary benefit of the blogosphere is to empower society. Not just read a few omnipoobahs sermonizing from the mount. I go to church for that.
There is an old adage about smug people that need to elevate themselves at the expense of others. They call it insecurity. I call them blogsnobs.

I say we boycott these snobs and let’s see what list they end up on.

this is 100% truth and among THE WORST are those, both professional (including many well known names in the industry) and amateur, in the anime reviewer world. they think that they are the AUTHORITY and they live in their own little world. they think that snobbery and elitism is going to save the industry. they limit their likes to only a few acclaimed titles (heavy Miziyaki overload) and maybe 1 or 2 popular titles just in order not to offend everybody (coughnarutocough). In trying to imitate Roger Ebert, they end up channeling Mussolini
also , I can’t stand these bloggers from both right and left who are both wrong but stick to their ignoramus comments. Even if they are devoid of truth.
