Election time for the Great White North
Perhaps no longer will Canada be held in the strangle-hold of a Liberal dictatorship. Canadians will be treated Sunday May 23rd to a democratic delight denied them for over a decade after Paul Martin asks the Governor-General to dissolve Parliament - the first election in over a decade that won’t be a foregone conclusion.
Just after 1 p.m. EDT, Mr. Martin began his walk to Rideau Hall to visit the Governor-General. A united Conservative party, a Bloc Quebecois resuscitated by outrage and an NDP revived by a media-savvy leader have used the fuel of the sponsorship scandal and fatigue with the Liberals to raise the real possibility of a minority government for the first time in 30 years.
