Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

This story reminds me of that AC/DC song “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”. Not sure why. It just does. Says Judge Fadeley:

… the blogosphere is “a veritable Wild West of verbal ambushes and shootouts, with very little fear of legal recourse to keep character assassination, defamation and dirty business tricks in check.

It’s high time to fill the gap in a system that allows defamation in the blogosphere to go unchecked. The harm can be wide-ranging and devastating. Until the law catches up with technology, innocent parties have little or no protection in the volatile world of cyberspace”.

I say maybe Shakespeare had it right all along. Besides the Net Neutrality issue, perhaps we should pass another law that says no lawyers are allowed in the blogosphere. Yeah! Now that would be wild.

  2. This post was written five years ago and it there are few solutions for people harmed online. One of the biggest culprits is the website Ripoff Report. I was the victim of a revenge attack on the website and after two years of unsuccessful attempts to get it removed, the loss of my career and faced with a future deprived of my ability to work I filed defamation proceedings against Google Inc and Google Australia.

The case is currently undergoing in pre-trial processes. I started a blog about a month ago in order to put information online in a search for my name that indicated I was defamed and was litigating. Google have sent it into Cyberia.

It is still online but unlike Bing and Yahoo it does not index in a search for my name. It did when it was first online but then I started getting visits from Google a few times a day and it dropped from the SERPs. Please drop by. It is lonely out in space.
