Crikey, That Was Close

Last night my last working ‘puter (remember 3 died earlier this year) suddenly started freezing. No error message, no blue screen of death. Just froze.

I tried running some diagnostics but they would freeze half way through. So I booted into SpinRite to check if the hard drives were failing. But that froze too.

I fired up msconfig and booted into diagnostic mode, and that froze. So I tried booting into safe mode and that also froze. Well … you get the picture. Nothing was working and by now I’m getting really worried as the sweat beaded profusely on my forehead.

This morning I popped her open, got out the compressed air can and vacuum cleaner and gave her a good D&C. As you can see I’m back online again and things are working (knock on wood).

I’m trying to stay positive but if I should disappear again you will know why.

If only our bodies could be repaired so easily. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to exchange parts or just blow some air and be good as new again?

I had to go the hospital today for another ultrasound because my old problem has returned. After a month or so of wellness, suddenly the taps turned off just like it was before I passed the kidney stone.

Ironically, this all happened right after we cancelled a followup Cat Scan and a 2nd Lithotrypsy operation … and of course my Dr. is away on holiday.

Bummer! Now please excuse me as I look for the bathroom.

Sorry to hear of your “hardware” issues. Hopefully both your computer and your body stop giving you trouble.

Thanks Kathy, Kher and Gaming Wiz. I really need to purchase three new computers. I’m saving up the pennies.

I’m supporting the family with only a medical disability which doesn’t provide much after paying for the necessities of life.

Right now I’m just using a hog-pog of old parts taken from the three dead ones and it’s vastly underpowered for my needs.
