Commenting @ Blog Bloke = Greater Visibility for You

How’s That Might You Ask?

A reader recently reminded me why it is to your advantage to leave comments on this blog. You actually have three ways you can improve your blog visibility:

 1. First of all, when you leave a comment you have a chance to get a link in the top ten performer’s list. You will find it in the right-hand sidebar under the “Blokester Roll” menu. So the more comments you leave, the better your chances are for being listed.

2. Secondly, leaving a link with your comment promotes greater visibility for your blog.

3. Thirdly, I use the plugin called CommentLuv which adds a link to your most recent blog post. Now that is sweet!

You win big three ways!

Some might call it bribery but I prefer to think of it as a reward to you, my loyal readers. So comment away and watch your blog go ballistic!

I should also mention that if you link to Blog Bloke on your blog I will add you to my Blokester Network and feature you in a post (with another link to you of course).

WHOA!

How’s that for putting my link love where my mouth is?

  1. Woohoo! LOL

I offer 2 outa 3 so far, not bad. I am thinking of the KeywordLuv plugin as well…so many like to spam the name field anyway, why not just make it “legal”.

  5. The Blog Bloke sends high quality traffic indeed, even to a blog NOT related about blogging.

Here’s what I dug up from my Google Analytics account. The Bloke visitors view 4.33 pages/visit! Holy smokes. That’s even better than Google Search traffic. Bloke visitors spend a whopping 6 minutes on my site and has a bounce rate of only 30%. That’s WAY above my sites average and better than any referral I ever received.

I would like to thank Blog Bloke and all those who visited my site. :-)

  6. I never think too much about what commenting does for my site. I am just a talkative person by nature, so I tend to leave my comments all over the blogsphere when I find something of interest. But it is good to know this information.

  8. I also think it’s important for blog owners to respond to their reader’s comments. There’s nothing like leaving a comment and feeling as if it’s going into a black hole. If your posts get lots of comments I can see how a blog owner might not get around to answering each one, but if he/she doesn’t take the time to answer ANY comments it creates a void between the blog owner and the readers. It makes the blog more impersonal in my opinion.

Fortunately, you’re not in that category!

New visitor here - can’t remember how I got to your site but I’m glad I did!

  9. i agree with this post… commenting helps a lot to get better page rank… but comments should not be vague or irrelevant… these comments may kill your blogs brand image also.. so make genuine comments always

  10. And of course there are benefits for you (the blogger). By welcoming comments on your blog you are encouraging a sense of comunity where regular visitors can have a chance to interact with you and each other and of course you also get free content on your blog to draw even more search engine visitors.

  12. I think in general leaving comments to posts that you have read, whether you enjoy them or not is both courteous and in general a good thing.

Even if you did not enjoy a blog post or article, I find it useful when people even post negative responses to my posts. Negative posts help me gauge what I am doing right and what i am doing wrong. I then take that information and apply it to future articles.

So in general I find constructive critique as well as positive responses are the way to go, and I do it on just about every blog post I read.

Blog Bloke reply on December 2nd, 2008 5:09 pm:

  19. You should consider adding a dofollow plugin, that would be the most helpful imho.

Houston Lawyerss last blog post…Do I still owe debt if the person I owe it to dies?

[Reply to this comment: The author will be notified.]

IMHO? Wouldn’t that be a contradiction of terms for a lawyer? Or perhaps a conflict of interest? ;-)

I don’t like the dofollow plugin because it puts a load on the site and may cause conflicts. It also takes way the ability to make decisions on a case by case basis. There are of course plugins that will allow you to do this but they also put a load on the site and may also cause conflicts.

You can read more about another way of doing it manually here: http://www.marketingtechblog.com/2007/10/13/nofollow/
