Code War Stories Part 11
Ch, Ch, Ch, Changes,
Turn to Face The Strain:
You may have noticed some changes to Blog Bloke’s website design. These are the result of using CSS stylesheets.
It’s all part of the master plan to incorporate blogger’s NavBar into my web design. The Bloke is still working out the kinks and staying up all hours (I have the baggy, blood-shot eyes to prove it) debugging code with a nifty little software called CSE HTML Validator. You might want to get yourself a copy because it sure makes life a whole lot easier.
This program showed me a lot of coding errors (and I mean a lot). It’s been hard, tedious work but well worth the effort and the benefits of my labour are already noticeable. After fixing just a few errors the site already looks and performs better, but I still have another few thousand or so errors to go.
A downside that I’ve discovered with CSS is there is not a lot of legacy support for older or non-mainstream browsers, which makes compatibility a real issue. And until they can all get together with standards compliance, IE (unfortunately) will continue to be the de facto web browser.
Check your site at AnyBrowser and see for yourself. Stay tuned for more ‘Code War Stories’…
