Calling all FTP Blogger Beta Bloggers

Whew, that title was a mouthful. I think that’s what they call an alliteration on steroids.

Blogger Beta is recommending that FTP bloggers (i.e. non-blogspot users) switch their blogs over. There are of course some caveats that go with it (aren’t there always). Again, grease caution is the word:

We do recommend that, before you switch, you create an account on the new version of by signing in with a Account at http://beta..com/. Try creating a test blog there and verifying that it can publish to your provider. You can then switch your current blog to this Account. Or, just ask around on the Help Group to find out if other people have had success publishing to your particular provider.

Extra tip: ask your provider if they support SFTP. If they do, you should use it instead of FTP. It’s more secure than FTP and we’ve found that it will often work when FTP does not.

Looks like they still have a lot of kinks to get out before Beta becomes a viable product.
