Calling All Blokesters … Need More Ideas Please!
After my recent disaster from a trojan virus I’ve lost all of my draft posts that I was working on. STINK!
So I need more ideas from y’all! Please let me know what you would like me to write about because once that alzheimer’s thing came into play I can’t read minds as well as I used to.
Cheers!

Curtis’s last blog post..Planting Spring!
Yes, take a long walk with your daughter, wife, or dog. Go up the mountain and forget about blogging. Just enjoy all there is around you and be still with it. Focus on everything.
The ideas will begin to flow.
Remember, family first.

Sounds so transcendental. Can I bring my laptop?
Before your crash I had a question for you regarding my confusion on Google ads… confused since they show up on Wordpress and not on Blogger sites… any thoughts on that? It just seems weird to me since I thought Blogger was the Google product, not Wordpress!
Hi Maureen. I answered that here:

Let me know if it helps.
With the proliferation of online social networking applications and the extra work this can create for bloggers I was wondering what differences you have seen over time with regards to blogging and whether you see this as good or bad. When I first started blogging publicly MyBlogLog was just starting up and after that came an explosion of Web 2.0 type resources for bloggers - I have not known anything else.
Have you noticed a difference in the number of comments, do you think blogging will become less popular because of Twitter etc …..?
I sympathize with you losing your drafts - I have spent the last week trying to retrieve the deleted contents of a whole disk drive after a reformat and Windows reinstall first wiped my C drive and then my backup drive.

Crikey this is an epidemic! You’re the second person today who’s told me they’ve had the same problem.
You need to get Data Recovery Wizard.
You can also find free disaster recovery utilities here:

I’ve written about web 2.0 apps before and generally speaking they’ve been a detriment to blogging, taking away readers, feed subscribers and comments are down as well as.
There’s too much competition out there and here’s hoping there will be reckoning to weed them out. How many Facebooks do we need anyhow?
Regarding the email, I’m always suspicious of messages from unknown senders but in this case there was no attachments and it was addressed to me personally on my private email address. Just a link and a short message. The message didn’t sound spammy and seemed relatively innocuous.
By the way Sue, when are you going to take me up on my offer to write a guest post here?
Bloke, Wordpress 2.5 is coming out soon. It’s got a spiffy interface according to many.
Would you take a chance of reviewing it ?
Jaffer’s last blog post..Checkmate !
Welcome to the club Sublimely ! The past couple of weeks I was stuck with a corrupt WP database.
Being frustrated, I went on an adventure hunting for a new CMS but reunited with Wordpress + a new design.

Ah, sorry I missed your response… I checked back a few times before you did answer, so I didn’t think to check again. Apologies.
So the Google Ads you have you have purposely added? I see. I thought they were a feature you HAD to have. I was tooling around with my Wordpress blog (I have as yet, not decided to switch over, but I am learning it first) and I thought part of the conditions for the free Wordpress site was to have ads. They first state that Wordpress is “an ad-free” platform:
“AdSense and other Ads
Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika, TextLinkAds and other ads are not permitted to be added by users. Please send us feedback if you’d like to put ads on your blog - we are considering such a feature for a future upgrade.”
but then back in September 2006, they started the random text ad placements that met with, let’s say, a less than enthusiastic response. They even still have the statement that Adsense is not allowed on their pages, but then have another page that announces the placement of the very same Adsense ads by WP.
I don’t want ads on my blog. Especially if I can’t control where and when they will pop up, or what ads are randomly shown.
And it looks like I am not alone.

Maureen, unfortunately when you are on a free account you are at the mercy of the whims of your host provider. Blogger gives you the option to have your own ads under certain conditions. They justify that by forcing a navbar on you (unless of course if you know how to hide it.)
Jaffer, your corrupt database sounds more like an issue with your blog host provider than with Wordpress. Stick with WP and shop around for a new host.
Regarding reviewing the new WP 2.5 that’s coming up, I could do that but it would be not be from first-hand experience. Then again, I could always scrape the info from my problogger/splogger friends.
If taking the laptop will help get you there, sure.
Have you checked in on me lately?

Sure, I’ll check you out anytime
Thanks for dropping by and leaving some comments. Glad I was good for a laugh.
I asked awhile back, “Do all bloggers go to Heaven” - it was a post I did when I didn’t hear from you for such a long time.
What happens to blogs, do they just live in cyberspace forever?

Hi Blog Bloke,
Currently fresh out of ideas yet, this draft post tip may help you?
Since all my photos are uploaded on my free WordPress.com blogs, I use my free WordPress.com to save all my drafts in progress to check the post layout of text and images. Afterwards, the final version is copied to my public WordPress Blog and published.
Debbie Dolphin’s last blog post..Secret New York Lighthouse For Sale
Teri, the blog will live long after the author is gone. Eventually it will get pushed to the back of the line but good ole Google will probably outdo the Mormons when it comes to archiving.
A nifty way to backup your posts there Debbie (or should I say sis).
So, what happens to blogs when you quit writing?
How do you delete a blog site?
What protects you from people ripping off your material
and calling it theirs?

Kathy has an interesting post that you might want to read called the The To-Do List Meme. Look at number 5 “Write my final blog post”. It’s funny like most of her writing.
The only way to protect your blog from being stolen is to NOT delete it. Otherwise some splogger will probably take it.
I also wrote a post called “Wills for Bloggers, Pass it On Before You Pass On” that you might want to read.
I have just been trying to send you a message via your contact form but it will not send. The message I get is
“You can not use any of the following in the Name or Email fields: a linebreak, or the phrases ‘mime-version’, ‘content-type’, ‘cc:’ ‘bcc:’or ‘to:’.”
Could you contact me please (email or my blog contact form) I wanted to talk to you about the guest post.

I just tried it myself and it works Ok for me Sue. Oh well. Part of the problem is I haven’t been able to locate an email address on your blog. I’ve tried using your contact form several times for the past few months and I never heard back from you.
Why not click on my gmail icon above in the top right-hand sidebar and you can email me there?
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
