Calling All Blokesters: Need help with a Blog Tagline

Hi there Blokesters.

I’m considering re-branding this blog to include topics such as the social networking phenomena. Although I’ve already discussed topics like this in previous posts, I intend to focus even more on emerging technologies and how it will affect blogging as we now know it.

I will continue to publish “Blog Tips” but in order to disassociate myself from the sploggers I’m also planning to discuss new technologies such as digital convergence, web 2.0 and how it will affect the future of blogging.

So I need your help with creating a new title tagline (just below the blog header logo). Here is the old one:

“Blog Tips Tools and News by Blog Bloke, the ‘Original’ Blogging Resource”

I’m hearing from your comments that you really enjoy reading my opinions on the state of the blogosphere and so I thought I would incorporate that as well.

These are possible new taglines that I came up with:

  1. Blog Tips, Tools and Views by Blog Bloke - the ‘Original’ Blogging Resource
  2. A Blogger’s Natural Resource - Blog Tips - Digital Convergence - Web 2.0
  3.  The ‘Original’ Blogging Resource for Blog Tips, Digital Convergence and Web 2.0

So what do you think? Which one do you like best? Can you think of a better one or do you still prefer the old tagline?

I’m thinking the topics of digital convergence and web 2.0 will blend nicely with my need to vent express my opinions as I rub my crystal ball and foretell what it will all mean for the future of the blogosphere. Neither do I want the tagline to sound too stuffy (or simplistic) so as to get across this is still a blog for beginner bloggers as well as for the more advanced.

Please lend me your opinion because this is really driving me nuts :-) trying to come up with a re-focus for the blog. Please also let me know if these are topics that are of interest to you. I really need your opinion because in the end it is you who will decide whether or not you want to read it.

Thanks muchly.

    2. I know being “the original” is important but that’s in the past, now, YOU ARE THE SOURCE for Bloggers. I’m glad you took a break from blogging to reevaluate. Sometimes, we are too close to a situation to see it clearly. Given a little space, the real intent for you blogging is coming back. It’s good to see you working on it. I never understood why you wanted to change your blog. It is (was) just fine. It’s more about the content than the bells and whistles. You’re the BEST.
      Love ya, Teri

      Thanks Teri.

I had to upgrade because my old blog was being left in the dust by the competition and Blogger didn’t cut it anymore. I agree about content being king but looking professional is also important for this kind of blog. First impressions and all that.

Yes, taking a break has done me wonders. It’s given me a chance to fix up the small things that needed tending to on the template as well as get my perspective. It’s also given me an opportunity to look after matters in my real world that I’ve been neglecting.

      Cheers!

    3. I just LOVE LOVE your reply system. You are always right on top of things. Sometimes I forget to check back for the answer to a question or can’t remember what post I left it under. This little do-dad for responding directly is super SMART.
      I want it, too. Teri

Yeah, I like it too. Just move your blog over to Wordpress and you can get one. It’s a plugin that I slightly modified.

    4. I was just thinking of the comment I left on your “New Features” post, where I referred to you as my “back pocket guide,” which is how I see you. A resource that you need to have with you all the time.

So my suggestion is “Your Back Pocket Guide to Blogging.” That doesn’t incorporate your Web 2.0 or digital convergence topics, but maybe you can play with it a little.

      Just my 0.02.

    5. I am pretty sure you spent time sorting out the sentences and words for your tagline. I do agree with Tica, I can’t see relevance on the ‘original’ word. After checking the order of the words and trying to figure out where are you heading up now, I will select the number 2.

      Hope this provides some help.

      [ Reply..]

Thanks TonNet. The reason for “original” is there are so many copycats now in my niche that I feel it’s necessary to set the record straight in order to differentiate myself from the rest of pack.
