Bush apologizes AGAIN
President Bush has apologized a second time after even more photos surfaced showing the abuse and degradation of prisoners in Iraq.
The new photos threaten U.S. efforts to limit a scandal spiralling out of control. They come amid reports from the International Committee for the Red Cross that its officials were worried about activities at Abu Ghraib prison, near Baghdad, long before stories of mistreatment became public. The photos come a day after Mr. Bush assured the Arabic world that the United States would not stand for such behaviour. On Thursday, after a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, he said he was apologetic for the behaviour of some U.S. soldiers.
“I told him I was sorry for the humiliation suffered by the Iraqi prisoners and the humiliation suffered by their families,” Mr. Bush told reporters in the White House Rose Garden.
PERHAPS Bush should make a recording of himself because this is getting tiresome. Calls for Rumsfeld’s resignation are being heard amidst rumours that Bush scolded him in private for failing to inform him about the photographs. And Kerry insinuates Bush is not taking responsibility and doesn’t know what is going on.
I don’t know about you, but I find Kerry’s rhetoric tedious. He will say anything any everything to get into office, but for all his talk I still can’t get a handle on what he would do if he were President. He reminds me of the contrite person who loves to hear himself talk and argues only for argument’s sake. For all his negativity I don’t hear many solutions, or am I missing something here?
