Blogger’s "Word Verification" SUCKS!
I don’t know about you but I’m fed up with blogger’s “word verification” option for reducing commenting spam.
When it works it’s very effective eliminating automated spam. HOWEVER, after writing a new post or making changes to my template it goes on the fritz again and nobody can leave comments. For some unknown reason it refuses to acknowledge the verification code. Only after republishing the blog (or index) will it work again.
If you have a lot of blogs and write a lot of posts like I do that means republishing dozens of times per day, and let me tell you that is a complete pain in the you know what. I’ve wasted a week putting up with it and had enough. So I turned it off.
I have contacted blogger support numerous times and all they do is send me a canned message telling me to clear out the browser cache and cookies. Thanks for the help boys and girls BUT IT DOESN’T WORK! Get it?
Has anybody else noticed this problem because I would really like to know if I’m the only one suffering with this nuisance?

I haven’t noticed this problem with my blog… although I only have two blogs on my profile, and not many people reading or leaving comments, but still - has not come to my attention yet
I have several blogs and they all seem to suffer from the same problem with word verification. Which leads me to believe that it can’t be a problem that is specific to myself.
I suspect that many people are not aware of the problem, so I ask that next time you make changes to your template or post, try to add a comment and let me know what happens.
What adds to the dilemma is it seems to be intermittent, so you might have to try more than once to reproduce the problem.
Ok, it seems to be working again (at least for now). Time will tell. Someone at blogger must have been listening after all.
I have several blogs, which I update several times daily, directly in the blog and sometimes outside using the newsisfree service. The word verification thing seems to come on at random, my guess was that it was being triggered by my content, but after reading your blog and the comments I’m not so sure.
Nearly everyday I’m asking blogger to whitelist one of my blogs, anyhow, the people here http://www.word-verification.com/ thought it was annoying enough to make fun of.
