Blog Bloke is Shutting Down .. Maybe .. Not Really

(UPDATE: Please read the bottom of this post for the happy ending).
This will be the worst post of my life. My blog host has advised me our affiliation is coming to an end.
The reason I haven’t been posting much is because every time I go into my Wordpress dashboard the blog crashes. This has been going on for a long time.
The blog host (Hexahost) tells me it’s because I am still running on WP2.3 and the environment is too old. I am working on an upgrade for the theme to WP3 but now the blog host says it will not give me a WP3 installation as we had previously discussed.
I am caught between a rock and a hard place. I can’t post much because the blog crashes. I can’t work on a theme upgrade because I don’t have a WP3 installation to test it.
There is no way I can duplicate the blog on Blogger without PHP, server-side scripts and plugins which it does not support. Not that I would want to go back there anyhow. So I’m kinda screwed.
Unless I can find another blog host to give me a sweet deal I will have no choice but to shut Blog Bloke down.
That will break my heart because I have poured my heart and soul into this blog over the past decade. But that unfortunately is reality.
If I do shut down I want to thank all my loyal readers for listening to my prattle all these years. It has been a pleasure.
UPDATE: Apparently it was a misunderstanding.
“The reply from (edited out) is different from what I have replied you from my mail id. We have discussed this internally. There is NO plan to drop you out from Hexahost.”
Please excuse me as I visit the hospital for heart palpitations. Gasp, sputter…

Thanks Michael. This blog will still be up here for awhile. I just can’t actively post on it like I would like to. I also have more Blog Talk Radio shows lined up this year with my buddy Wayne Hurlbert. So I will still be around here and there until I can hopefully find the money for another blog hosting situation.

You’ve got a great blog here, lot of history, great technical stuff (or at least it looks that way to me)so I’m surprised that you haven’t been able to monetize it it? From everything I’ve read it should be “easy”, getting the audience is the hard part

Thanks Rob. Yes anybody can stick ads on, mine their content with affiliate links etc. It’s not rocket science (although you would think otherwise according to some). But I chose to keep this blog pure and free from bias.

My goodness, I have just got back from camping, finished getting things cleaned up and squared away, come on line to see what has been happening and read this…and I go…has the world got insane? No BlogBloke to read or to share or to laugh at?….whew, I am sooooo glad that everything is having a happy “beginning” ( I refuse to say ending ^-^) and I am truly glad that you have had so many good people in your life to help and support you through this time.
