Beatles for Sale - Online that is
The Long and Winding Road to Your iPod:
It’s been reported that the Beatles are digitally remastering their entire song catalog in preparation of downloading to a favorite computer near you.
The Beatles have steadfastly refused to allow their songs to be sold in direct digital format. This may be changing, however, as Neil Aspinall, a former Beatles road manager and managing director of Apple Corps (the company formed by the Beatles to market and sell their music) has reported that the company is now digitally remastering the entire Beatles’ song catalog. This move is apparently intended to clear the path for Apple (Computer) Corps to offer the songs online.
My first question is — what Beatles? Now that Lennon and Harrison are gone, don’t they really mean Paul McCartney? I mean, Ringo who?
My second question is, if they are preparing to let Apple Computer download their songs, how does that sit with the current law suit? Do I smell settlement? Talk about a long and winding road.

Here it is… nearing three years since you wrote this and we’re still waiting for The Beatles to be available for download purchase. I actually hope they are waiting because they are planning on re-releasing everything REMASTERED with the works. Hopefully we’ll hear “Carnival of Light” too. Releasing it as a download single would be a great idea.
