That’s a good point Mary … um … … ah … hold on … I’m still thinking. Ya got me there.

All kidding aside it seems to meet 3 needs:

1. Some people use it like a public chat line. With the open web and social networking all the rage, privacy is a thing of the past;
2. Some use it as a micro link-blog. It’s great for lazy a-listers who don’t want to write much or dilute their blog pagerank;
3. Blogpreneurs use it as a networking tool.

To each their own.
