Apple vs. Apple: Can U Appreciate the Irony?

Apple Inc. has kissed and made up with the Beatles for a third time, settling their most recent round of legal proceedings and paying The Beatles some $50 to $100 million for the rights to the Apple name. That is on top of more than $26.5 million Apple Inc. has already paid to settle past disputes with the Beatles’ Apple Corps.

So check out the irony. We’ve all heard about how Microsoft’s Bill Gates ripped off Apple’s GUI interface to create Windows. Yet Steve Jobs and the Woz blatantly copied the Beatles’ corporate name and logo. Go figure. It’s a classic case of what goes around comes around if there ever was.

But Steve Jobs isn’t the only one who is happy the fighting is finally over. The news comes none to soon for Sir Paul McCartney as well. Apparently he is eager to replenish his vast fortune soon to be lost to his former sweetheart Heather Mills who is planning to take a big bite of her own out of the action.
